Ecology and Seattle City Light agreement provides water for mitigation bank

The Washington State Department of Ecology and Seattle City Light have entered into a landmark agreement to provide additional water to the Skagit River. The water will support instream flows in the Skagit River and a mitigation program for certain homes in Skagit and Snohomish Counties that rely on exempt wells. City Light will release the water from a reservoir associated with its Skagit River Hydroelectric Project. Ecology will establish the mitigation program in the months to come. More information is available at Ecology's website.

Matt Wells served as counsel to Seattle City Light on this project.
