On July 6, 2016, the Washington State Department of Ecology re-issued the Boatyard General Permit, which provides coverage for discharges of treated pressure-wash wastewater and stormwater runoff from certain boatyards to waters of the State. The new permit will take effect August 8, 2016.

Facilities that are already covered by the former permit will continue to be covered; new or unpermitted facilities may obtain coverage by submitting an application to Ecology. In accordance with RCW chapter 43.21B, the terms and conditions of this permit may be appealed in writing (but not via email) within 30 days of the issuance of the permit. The terms and conditions of this permit, as they apply to an individual discharger, may be appealed within 30 days of the effective date of coverage of that discharger; this type of appeal is limited to the permit’s applicability or non-applicability to a specific discharger.
